The International Sustainability & Carbon Certification System (ISCC System) is the first standard approved under the German bioenergy sustainability ordinances, in view of the requirements of the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED) by the end of 2010. The first successful ISCC audits already took place and the first certificates have been issued for a biodiesel production plant based on rapeseed in Germany and for a bioethanol plant based on grains in Europe.

The share of electricity generation from renewables in domestic gross electricity consumption amounted to 5,2 % in 2008. This number is however very low considering the national indicative target share for the Czech Republic which has been set to 8 % by 2010. The share of electricity generation from renewables on total domestic gross electricity generation amounted to 4,5 %. The share of renewable energy sources in total primary energy sources was 5 % in 2008.

the International 4Biomass Conference was held in Hungary on the 1st and 2nd December. The conference has covered all the major topics the projects is covering at the moment as the situation of REAP in the Central Europe, Demo projects and Country studies.
