Europe 4Biomass Final Conference 21.- 22. March 2012 in Berlin

The Second Transnational Forum - towards a sustainable bioenergy policy in Central Europe.

The results of the project 4Biomass are presented during a conference on 21st and 22nd of March 2012 in Berlin. Policy makers, stakeholders and investors are invited to discuss the political frameworks for bioenergy in Central Europe.

Germany 23. - 24. February 2012 - Berlin International Symposium on biogas during the BioGasWorld 2012

Detailed Preliminary Program available online - including contributions from the 4Biomass partners - The international symposium is organised by IBBK and supported by the 4Biomass project. Claudia Lutsyuk (FNR) will introduce the 4Biomass project to the audience and present some key results and Vito Pignatelli (ENEA) will hold a presenation about a research project under the title: Jerusalem Artichoke, a new sustainable energy crop for biogas production.

Germany Call for papers – BiogasWorld 2012

Starting in 2012, the international trade fair BiogasWorld organised by ProFair GmbH takes place every second year togehter with SolarEnergy and bautec at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. About 70,000 visitors from all over the world will visit the grounds on the five days. Apart from the domestic German market BiogasWorld places a special focus on the Eastern European countries from Poland and the Czech Republic to the Baltic States and Russia.

Europe Results of the Trans-national Stakeholder Dialogue

Between November 2009 and September 2010, biomass-stakeholders from eight Central European countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Slovak Republic, Slovenia) were invited to express their respective opinion and assessment concerning the framework conditions of bioenergy, the national biomass action plans, measures and instruments for the support of bioenergy, the prospects and the most favorable markets of bioenergy deployment and the role of bioenergy in relation to the other renewable energy sources.

Italy Italian workshop and field trip

On 21 and 22 June 2011 ENEA together with CRPA (one of the Italian CEBCs, Central European Bioenergy Centers) organized a Workshop, focused on the state of the art of biogas in Italy, regarding both technical and normative aspects, and a Field Trip at a biogas plant.

Poland National Forum of Biomass Combustion

The first national forum of biomass combustion was held on April 20-21 in Czestochowa. It was devoted entirely to issues of use of this fuel in the energy sector. Forum was divided into two parts: a conference and demonstration. There were over 200 representatives of energy companies and scientists.

Poland Polaniec – the world's largest power plant fired with biomass only

The first stage of building the world's largest power plant fired with biomass only has just been completed. During the construction phase the capacity of the power plant has been increased to 205 MW of the planned 190 MW.

Hungary Hungarian Regional Info Day

The Energy Centre Nonprofit Limited Company, the Hungarian partner of the 4biomass project, had the pleasure to inform interested stakeholders about the progress of 4biomass project. The Hungarian National Info Day was organized at RENEXPO- Central Europe in Budapest on 5th – 7th May 2011.

Hungary Current status of the Renewable Energy Action Plan in Hungary

Based on the target set in the 2009/28/EC directive (RED) on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources, Hungary has to reach 13% share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy by 2020. In the EU the target is 20%.

Europe Results of Transnational Biogas Conference Warsaw

International Strategies for sustainable biogas usage discussed on 07.04.11 at 4Biomass conference in Warsaw

“Biogas – Targets, Potential & Promotion within Central Europe” was the title of the Transnational Forum of the project 4Biomass on 07. April 2011 in the Ministry of Economy in Warsaw, Poland. This conference with about 100 participants was organized by the Institute of Power Engineering (Poland) together with the German Agency for Renewable Resources and Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation & Nuclear Safety.

Poland Study tour through Poland

From the 15th till the 18th of May 2011 has been organized by AGH University of Science & Technology a study tour through Poland. Within the tour have been visited six sights of a best practice case of the biomass use in Poland.

Europe Synthesis Report of Trade Studies has been published on 4Biomass.eu sites

The Synthesis Report of Biomass Trade in Central Europe is based on the data collected by the Project Partners in the Studies on Biomass Trade in their countries, and as well on their Country Studies on Political Framework and Availability of Biomass (www.4biomass.eu/publications). It gives an overview of current situation of biomass use not only in each country separately, but as biomass use and biomass trade are international topics, it provides a information on the region of Central Europe as whole.

Europe Establishing a Network of Bioenergy Competence Centres throughout Central Europe – First Nominations of Central European Bioenergy Centres (CEBC) at the Transnational Forum in Warsaw

IEN, FNR, Energia Központ, RE CORD and C.R.P.A. are the first nominated Central European Bionergy Centre - CEBC. The nominations were handed out to their representatives at the Transnational Forum in Warsaw by members of the CEBC committee, Ms Magdalena Rogulska and Lutz Mez. Additionally, the new CEBC logo was introduced to the public.
